Now that im 18?  My mom had to sign the adoption contract, because i was 17 when I got her.  I was the one in contact with the rescue, and they knew that she was my rabbit but of course my mom still had to sign for her.  Well in the contract she is not allowed to be rehomed and such, she is strictly my moms responsibility and she is to give her back to the IHRS if she is ever to rehome.  Well if/when i move out this summer after high school she will be rehomed with me.  I know some of you work at rescue so just curious on what i should be doing here.  I dont foresee any reason why the IHRS would find out or when this would come up but I would hate for it to come up and have her taken back for some odd reason.  Should i email the rescue and ask about it? Do you think i would have to drive all the way up there to sign something?  Or should i really just not worry about it?   Why would it ever be an issue anyway?  Thanks!!

i would email them, i’m sure it’s not completely uncommon for this to happen. if necessary, they could hopefully email or fax something to you.

I think the bigger concern is that she not be rehomed to another family – the intention with the rabbit rescue is that the rabbit be returned if they are not staying with an immediate family member who has not been screened by them.

I think it’s always a good idea just to let them know though – they just want assurances their rabbits are taken good care of.

They may be real sticklers about their contracts though so it’s really best to contact them. In most states the legal age to sign a contract is 18.

Yup rehomed means to someone else that wasn’t approved by the rescue. If your worried you could let them know you’d like to transfer ownership from your mom to you, as your mom signed because of age
