I have heard that rabbits can have oats and seen then on the ingredients list for my bunny’s pellets. I found a three pound bag of rolled barley flakes and figured it wouldn’t hurt to buy it for only three dollars. So my question is, is it safe to feed them to my bunny? Of course just in moderation.

Now I want to know, too. My kiddos love the Barley treats from BB store. Gracie needs all the dry stuff she can get due to her sensitive tummy.Where did you fine these? Can’t wait to hear what others think. I know I used to feed some oats to my angoras for their fur coat years and years ago.

It was the most incredible place. You might have to go to a health food store but I found big bags of oats and barley and all sorts of grain, an assortment of dehydrated fruit and even spices at an Amish store! Real cheep too!

It seems everyone on here is rather oat-negative. Not sure why. Oats and such are great for them. My buns love it. I haven’t fed barley but they love whole oats.

From what I understand, they are high in carbohydrates and calories so they’re fattening, so they are fed only as a treat.
I think they are used as a supplement for sick, pregnant, or underweight rabbits.

Make sure they’re untreated, and yes, they’re safe, in moderation.

Thanks everyone! They will most definitely be fed in moderation. Phantom does agility and I wanted to use them as treats for that. They’re much smaller than the pet store treats I was using and I’m sure healthier too.

Agility? Does she do that jumping hurdles? That’s so cool. I have to see if I can get oats and see if my underweight rabbit’s tummy can tolerate them. If so I’m going to give her a huge bowl. Just kidding. Only a small bowl ha ha

Yep, so far he only jumps a few inches, not as fast a learner as some of my other rabbits have been. We’re working on the pause box an tunnels though too.

Here’s a little sampling of all our agility. The white rabbit, Phantom, is the only one who I currently have, the rest have left for the Rainbow Bridge. If you dig a little deeper into my channel you can find videos with just Phantom and I have one or two… I can’t remember, with just my old rabbit Fobey.

That is sooo incredible! Is there a treat on the end of that stick?

Megabunny- nope. I trained him so when he touches the stick with his nose he gets a treat.

LongEaredLions- I don’t know if there is a place you can buy them… My dad and I made them but before I had the jumps I used bricks and broom sticks.
