Very cute.  What’s up with guinea pigs and rabbits being friends???  I have read about this so often!

I’m not so sure they are friends, sometimes they get along sometimes they don’t. they had a pee war on my bed last night, that was great! Prior to that they were snuggling lol! If you look close in the last pic you can see his bottom teeth (I have to cut them about once a week), coming up on that time!

Why do you have to cut his teeth so often? Doesn’t hay keep them worn down? That worries me because I heard if they eat plenty of hay and stems from veggies their teeth would be naturally worn down. Is this one more thing I need to worry about now?????

It’s not the case with most rabbits about the teeth, and the ones that normally need them trimmed I think is usually every 2-3 months. I was told lionheads generally have poorly aligned jaws and it’s not uncommon for them (they are a fairly new breed as well) , hay, veggi’s toys and whatnot should do it for the average bunny. I got a handful when I got him, he got neutered 2 times! the vet didn’t want to do the 2nd surgery to remove the one inside that never dropped so I had to bring him elsewhere and got charged 200 for a half neuter…good times! BUT he is all worth it, such a wonderful little guy!

Two neuters! Unbelievable! How do you trim his teeth anyway?

Oh my goodness, he’s so cute! Did you name him Rocky after Rocky and Bullwinkle? because that’s who he looks like. It’s funny how Lionheads all turn out so different.

I trim his teeth with pet nail clippers. I use the meduilm dog ones, I’ve used cat ones  but it’s easier to get a clean cut and keep his little tounge out of the way when I use slightly bigger ones. He hates it being done but has gotten much better about it over time, pluse he realizes it’s a lot easier to eat after and he gets raisins afterward!

He came with his name actually, I thought it was cute so never changed it is your guy a lionhead? yeh they all do come out looking so different some have double coats (like yours?) and they are very puffy then Rocky mostly has just the main and a couple of inches of fur elsewhere that "mostly" lies flat!

Really. How interesting. You get a staight cut and the teeth don’t crack? I obviously know nothing about this. I learn something new on this site every day!

sadly I do a better job then the vet, he was usuing smaller clipper and they did crack and the vet even nipped him in the mouth and he bled real bad once (I was shown how). I started doing it myself after that. I’ve never hurt him as of yet (fingers crossed) but yes straight non cracking cut everytime!

Gorgeous!! Myy first bun had to have her teeth clipped with nail clippers every 2 weeks, poor girl. Brian had his teeth burred when he had his bits lopped, my poor boy. Thankfully both buns haven’t had toothy probs, although judging by the nip i get off Bettie every night, i think her time has come!! Rocky has such unusual colouring, he’s lovely.

Cute bunny! I thought you weren’t supposed to clip their teeth? We don’t do that in the UK anymore (although it used to be common practice) It can cause the teeth to splinter below the gum line which then leads to infections, abscesses etc… Is it common to trim teeth using clippers in the the States, is that what most vets recommend?? (sorry just curious)

I was told to use nail clippers by the vet. He does "need" them cut though or else his bottom teeth will grow up his nose and his top will cut his tounge like when I first got him that was the shape he was in. Most rabbits don’t need regular teeth trims though.
