An injured baby cottontail was brought in yesterday where I work. There wasn’t anything that could be done for him. It really bothered me because he was so cute and looked so helpless. I will spare you guys the details. I just wanted to say goodbye to him. Poor little cottontail. Hopefully he is somewhere peaceful now.

We’re not really supposed to take in injured wildlife. If there was something that could have been done, I would have done it though. Then I would have turned him over to our local wildlife rescue organization. Unfortunately he was just too far gone by the time the girl brought him there. Poor little thing. She said her cat had attacked him.

Seeing him like that is just burned into my mind. I guess that is something only bunny owners would understand.

I know that feeling, when you truly know they need help but you just can’t provide it. You did the right thing by giving him a few hours in comfort and peace before he passed. You should be proud

It wasn’t a few hours. He was already in the process of dying by the time the girl brought him there. But yes, he was in a little shoebox and I petted him a little bit. Poor little guy.
