This is something I’ve already taken Moonpie to the vet for……but, since bunny fungal cultures take awhile to actually grow, I figured I’d see if anyone had any thoughts here. 3/25 will be a week since I took him to the vet, hopefully results will come in soon.
I was gone to Houston for a few days over spring break, and when I came back Moonpie was losing hair on his ears (the outsides), and attached to the hairs was a large “flake” of skin. There was a lot of scaly looking skin, and some greasy looking residue on the outsides. Sadly he decided to do this RIGHT after I had been in a place where I get free vet care
, so I sucked it up and took him to a vet in the area.
The vet took a skin scraping, and did a fungal culture, but was pretty sure it was ringworm. Other than the weird skin stuff, he said his ears looked great (on the insides). However, the vet visit was on 3/18, and now Moonpie’s ears seem much better. There is a little spot that looks like it has some greasy white residue on it, but no hair loss or scalyness. Does sound like anything familiar to you guys? I was also thinking that if he had ringworm wouldn’t I get it? I definitely hate waiting for test results.
Positive note: the vet was very impressed by his good behavior. He had no problems with the skin scraping, hair being pulled, or stuff being shoved in his mouth to check his teeth. He wasn’t a fan of them touching his belly, but everything else he took very calmly.
