My friend has a rabbit that is around 4 months old. I weighed her today and she 3.3 pounds. We don’t know what breed she is, but based on online research and looking at pictures, we’re thinking that she is a rex or mini rex. We’re not sure which one though.

Just based on her weight and age, can you figure out if she is a rex or mini rex? I am leaning towards mini rex since I read online that rabbits stop growing at around 6 months and mini rex are around 4 pounds at maturity (which she is close to). Is it possible that she is a rex and will have a sudden growth spurt or do you think she is a mini rex and will continue growing at this pace to be around 4 pounds?? Thank you for your help!

Could you post a picture of her?

Rabbits actually stop growing usually depending on what breed they are. For example, a smaller sized rabbit will grow for about 6 months whereas a big rabbit like a Flemish Giant will continue to grow until about a year old.

The images are a bit blurry, but I hope it helps. And I know… her cage is a mess haha. Blame her owner lol.

Well, at first glance, I would say neither. She doesn’t look to have the velvet fur or curly whiskers rex types have.

I actually completely agree. She def doesn’t look like a Rex to me at all.

And I meant nine months, not a year for larger rabbits! Hahahaha.

She’s a gorgeous little girl though, I have to admit. I’m not exactly sure but she kinda looks like a mix to me. Did your friend get her from a pet store?

I agree with neither. Her fur, body type, and whiskers are not correct for a rex. I’m not sure what she is, but she’s beautiful!!!

She has rex coloring but the whisker are not curly and she is more fluffy looking. Beautiful girl!

Yes, my friend got her at a pet store. I guess she’s a mix of different breeds!

If she is 3.3 lbs at 4 months, seems like she’ll grow up to be a small or medium-sized rabbit. It’s pretty rare to have a pure-bred rabbit unless you buy from a pedigree breeder, but we love our bunny mutts all the same .
