I’m wondering if anyone has any creative tips for grooming a shedding rex rabbit.
I find even over my long haired Wooley my Rex is far more difficult with the short fine hairs. It’s hard to get larger amounts out, brushes don’t help much.

Pumice grooming stones work well on my mini rexes, but I still use just a damp cloth against the grain of the hair with success. They are most co-operative when I use the damp cloth.

I’ve never heard of a Pumice grooming stone, where do you get them? Are they easy to clean off?
I use my hands, damp and then ‘pet’ them lol… messy job.

i use a little wire brush most of the time. if he’s blowing his whole coat at once i’ll have to put him on my lap and pull the patches out by hand

lol isnt a Pumice grooming stone what people use for their feet? xD

He doesn’t like the ‘slicker’ type brushes, i think it’s irritating or to hard on his skin (my large dog also hates these brushes LOL, while my cats had loved them).

LOL, that’s what I was thinking too.

Pumice has many applications. You can get them at horse tack stores. They are very easy to clean off as you rub them against a harder surface to expose a new layer of rough pumice prior to grooming.

Very cool. I will ask next time I am at the feed store picking up supplies.
                    Thanks

Hmm maybe I should try that too. I just pluck Leroy as he runs past me

I was wondering about grooming rexes as well. I just pet Arduina with damp hands, when I’m done I rub my hands together and the fur balls up, then I can dispose of it easily. It does seem that longer haired [hared *teehee*] buns might be easier to groom..

When I used to help at the shelter the “short-hair” hairbuster comb worked really well. (hairbuster.com)

But if the pumice grooming stone ends up working well for you, let me know. I like to keep up on these kinds of things!

I wonder how effective this method is…

When I was fostering a rex, I used a lint roller on him!

Niether of bunnies care for brushes at all. I agree that a wet cloth is relatively effective at least for mine.

I guess, that should work on Lint also.

How to groom a rex (or anybun for that matter): Step 1Dress in your best outfit for an evening out. Step 2 Give your bunny a hug goodbye. Step 3 Magically all of bunny’s loose fur transfers to your nice new suit/dress!

                                        hahahaha… so true!
Embarassing Storey (Me trying to aviiod bunny hair) – I once tried avoiding getting rabbit hair on my nicest interview cloths (had a job interview), so instead of putting them on after my shower, i just tossed on my pajama pants (Neon pink happy Bunny may i add) and ran downstairs to feed the bunnies before i left (i was in a total rush as well), as i ran to go back upstairs, my dog who was following me barfed on the floor behind me, i opened the front door yelling “out! out! out!” as I look out my neighbour is watching me from across the street…. only then do i remember i am JUST wearing pants… I hide behind the dooor yelling “GET IN! GET IN!” …. *blush*
