        Hello..

        my rabbit is sick nowadays..

she has a white eye discharge and hard noisy breathing

i already take her to the vet and she gave her an oxygen and antibiotics..

it is been two day after the antibiotics treatment.. but she still not breathing well

the doctor tell me to bring her back in 5 days if she is not getting better

but i am kinda worried about her..

it is so hard for her to breath that she need to left her head up ..
is it normal to still have hard breathing while recovering?

should i wait for the antibiotics Treatment to finish ? Or should i return her to the doctor and not waiting the five days ?

she is eating and drinking water and not refusing the medicine , everything is well except her breathing and eye discharge.

She is my first rabbit and it is my first time seeing her this sick so idk what to do..

if you can help me i will be so greatfull♥️

I’m so sorry that your bun is sick. Oral antibiotics should make a difference within 72 hours. If you don’t see any improvement at all after 72 hours (3 days), I think it’d be reasonable to contact the vet again, because it is serious when a patient has trouble breathing. They could prescribe additional meds.

Rabbits can have oral terbutaline to help them breathe if they have a lower respiratory infection. If your bun’s difficulty breathing is due to a congested nose, terbutaline would not be indicated, since it’s a bronchodilator that works on the lungs.

It is common for vets to prescribe rabbits meloxicam together with the other meds, because meloxicam is an anti inflammatory medicine (as well as a painkiller), which can help reduce swelling of the nasal mucosa, and thus allow for easier breathing. Corticosteroids, which would be the go-to drug for humans and dogs, are best avoided with rabbits.

It is excellent that your bun still has an appetite!
