I just rescued a quite old male bun from a family member. he’s never been fed a correct diet so I’m trying to fix that. I believe he was just fed pellets and occasional fruit. I brought him home yesterday, he settled without too much stress, I offered hay, a mix of his original pellets with higher quality ones, and fresh greens and tiny fruit. .

his original poops are almost as small as lentils. today I found small poops mushed with 2 larger moist flat poop? is this okay? can I do anything or is it a matter of time to adjust? I gave him some mycolin just in case for any unease.

no signs of pain or stress, no stopping of poops, still eating , no symptoms of stasis.

ignore the awful bedding, I don’t want to shock him with too many changes at once.

Thank you for rescuing him! And you have the right idea by not making too many changes at once.

I would cut out most veggies and fruit for the time being, and focus on getting his hay consumption up. The poops don’t look too bad, but are likely some excess soft cecotropes from the diet changes. Also be sure to only include a tiny bit of the new pellets at a time.

Is he eating his hay?  If he’s never gotten hay consistently he may have some molar spurs, so if his hay consumption isn’t great it would be good to have his teeth checked by a vet.

Yes, it looks like excess cecotropes with regular poops stuck to them. I wouldn’t be overly worried. It very well could be all of the diet changes. It may be a good idea to walk it back a little bit and then reintroduce things more slowly.
