Bomber has been acting very lethargic all day, not coming out of his cage much and just being very lazy and sad.  He is eating and pooping, but I just noticed that maybe he is limping?  It seems that he is pulling his front paw up under him when he walks, he won’t walk much so I can’t tell if this is what’s wrong.  Is there anything I can check for?  How long should this continue before he sees a vet?  Obviously it would be Monday before he could get in anywhere, so should I plan to take him then?  I’m very upset and it’s sad to see him like this…  I am planning a trip to Indiana to see family tonight or in the morning, and he will be going to grandmas for a few days, is this ok to go ahead and do or should I cancel the trip?  Any help is appreciated.

if he looks like he is limping it could be a lot of things, and it would be best to have it checked out by a vet. He may have broken something, or it may be something as simple as a overgrown nail. Its hard to tell on your own, so i would suggest taking him in asap. prolonging it may only make it worse and put him in unnecessary pain. def take him in!

I think if you are concerned you should get him to the vet on Monday if he is still acting this way. Can you look at the paw that he is pulling up on? Can you feel around the area too to see if it’s tender? He’ll probably react in some way if he’s injured. The positive thing is that he is eating and pooping for now.

I agree, I would definitely take him in before your trip. If he seems sad and lethargic he is most likely in some sort of pain and discomfort. This alongside with going away from home for a few days is enough to make him seriously ill. Personally if it were me I would have him sorted out before I went anywhere. Good luck!

I touched his paw and he can move it, so I’m not sure that anything is broken, but he definitely reacts by running away from me….

It could be a fracture or sprain as well. I too think he should see a vet so an exam can be done and an x-ray taken.
