Refuses to pee in litter box

Hi guys, I’ve currently had this rabbit (Beanie) for 4 to 6 weeks. At the start, she peed in the litter box fine along with our other rabbit. However, after a week of that, she started peeing on the fleece blankets we have over the wire (so they don’t get sores on their feet). So we decided to get another litter box and put that where she was peeing. She then moved to another corner of the fleece blanket. So we got another one. So now, she has no where to go but in the litter boxes, however, when we let her out to roam and exercise, the minute she is out she pees on the carpet. I’ve tried everything. Putting hay above the litter box, putting in the litter box, putting veggies in the litter box, treating her when she goes inside the litter box, putting poops and pees all back inside the litter box. I have even tried putting all my first rabbits poops in one and all of Beanie’s in another, just in case she didn’t want to go where the first bunny goes. However, nothing seems to be working and I am getting a little frustrated. She is just so determined to continue peeing on the carpet. I have also booked for her to be desexed in two weeks time. But if there is any other tips or tricks that may help, then please! I am getting very desperate. Thank you

What type of litter are you using in the box? Perhaps she has developed an aversion to the feel of that under her feet.

I’d look at covering the wire flooring with solid flooring of some sort. Maybe wood then a washable surface like vinyl on top of that?

We have paper based pellets and I have just tried ripped newspaper, but she still prefers the carpet. I have covered the wire flooring with cardboard. I still put fleece down for them though because the cardboard didn’t seem that comfortable for them.

It can be difficult to litter box train a rabbit that hasn’t been spayed or neutered, so unfortunately, you may not have much luck with her using the box until she has been spayed and a few weeks has passed to flush all the hormones out of her body. I hope that she will get back on track after her surgery.
