Here’s my set-up. I have the big Marchioro cage in a corner of the office and then an xpen attached to that. I have the huge maze and a cottontail cottage and a 3 foot tunnel. I’m feeling a bit squeezed in here so my question is why do I even need the xpen anymore? It’s nice because it has his toys, a willow tunnel and his beach towel that he sleeps on and a 2nd litter box but I never confine him as he has free roam. He likes to sleep against the xpen side on his towel. The cage I want to keep just because it really confines the hayrack and litter box so there is never any mess outside of the cage and in fact, hardly any mess but a few hay strands inside the cage. I have tried to do this before, remove the xpen, and I always put it back up because he seems confused by change or I think he is confused! Not mad just like “where the heck is my cage and why did you put my house there?” What do you think? Remove the xpen? It would free up so much more space. Why am I even worried about a 4 lb bunny’s reaction!
maybe you can slowly open the pen up or somehow reconfigure it so that eventually you can remove it so he doesn’t get so confused.
If you can do without the pen and he doesn’t need – do it.
You mean besides the door that is always open, like one complete side?
Yes – is it against a wall – maybe you can start folding one piece at a time so that it will eventually “disappear” and then you can take it out of the room.
yeah, maybe start folding it in… so instead of four sides, there are only 3 sides, then 2 sides. you could even line the wall with it if you want, and that’s it.
or you could just take it out altogether and stop worrying so much. lol.
maybe you could use it in another room to get him used to a different space. put his box and toys in there and let him spend some time somewhere else to see it’s not all that bad. he’s already been uprooted to an entirely different house while you were gone… and HE SURVIVED. i don’t think it’ll hurt him to spend an hour in another room.
Ok I did just that. I took away the long side that is the front with the door that goes into the room that’s been driving me nuts. So now I have one side going along the wall, much longer, which now protects the baseboard and from him getting in between the file cabinets. I put the maze along that wall and his towel in front. What a nosey guy. He WAS in a deep sleep and he is up now investigating. I had the maze lined up with the cottage so he could run through both but now they are separated. If he can deal with it is aleady a vast improvement on space. Man he is nosey!
aww edson sounds like the cutest rabbit ever! i so wanna see pics of him! im sure youve posted them before but ive never seen any! could you show me? or link me to some? im so jealous of your lil cutie!!! ![]()

ohh btw great set-up! The cute little house he’s in… did you make it or buy it somewhere? I want one now! lol
It’s definitely a better set-up. It’s the Cottontail Cottage. http://www.saveabunny.org sells it. Just go to SHOP, then Rabbit Hide-A-Ways. $19.95. Edson sleeps in it every day. Well today he’s in the maze!

YEA!!! Pictures of Edson!
He’s gotten more gray now, but he still has his boopy nose.
I really like your set up.
this is good. i need to know where he sleeps so when i come to bun-nap, i can make less of a commotion looking for him.
he’s adorable. that set-up looks great. if you keep the rug or sheet down, he should still recognize it as his turf.
Well with a cute nose like that you HAVE to be nosy :~)
He’s got a great set-up – I’m sure he approves.
Now I just have to get rid of that lineoleum and get another throw rug! Thanks for all your help!
WOW THat’s a great setup!! No wonder Edson won’t leave his room!! ![]()
You worry about what your bun thinks because…..
THE BUN IS GOD.
Worship the bun! ^_^
He is so adorable. I think of Mimzy every time I see him. What a lovely setup he has. I wish I could get Mimzy to enjoy something like that. But he’s really a very sedate little guy.
MM,
The gods, uh, buns are like us: some prefer ranch houses (Mimzy) and others high-rise apartments (Edson).
Hm, I dunno, rabbitpam…I think Mimzy just wants a hole to hide in so I’ll leave him alone, most days. :-/
(is thinking maybe the maze would be a good idea after all….)
Great set-up! VERY NICE!
I have that same little green, yellow and white blanket.
MM,
Sounds like you need to make up with him after the poking and prodding for his health of late.
Maybe square one: read a book on the floor and ignore, and see if he makes up with you?
And from what I’ve seen of the responses to the maze, it sounds like a great thing for him.
lolz…rabbitpam, yeah that might be why. But he’s just sitting in his little mini-xpen now, snoozing in his willow playhouse next to me. I noticed last night he was quite active, getting up on his sleeping shelf and munching his pellets and washing and hopping around. Maybe he’s just more chill in the daytime.
It’s my daughter’s bun who comes up and pesters me in the xpen. Yesterday I had them both out together and she wandered over while I was sitting in there and I suddenly feel nose-bumps in my backside and a couple of front paws on my spine and teeth pulling my shirt. I reached back and gave her a few head pets, then returned to what I was doing and then here she came with the nose again as if to say, “Hey! I wasn’t DONE yet!” *giggle*
It’s funny too, Mimzy seems to REALLY like my daughter. He climbs all over her when she sits with them. Gets in her lap and such. Hmph. Maybe I’ve just got the wrong bunny? :-/
So…knowltons…do you ever get the cold tail from Edson? Maybe it’s just a lop thing?
Mim – I get “flicked” off not a cold tail!
