        Hello everyone,

This is my first post on this forum and I’m a new holland lop bun mom. He is my first pet and bunny ever. I just got him at 8 weeks and he is about 12 or 13 weeks old right now. I’ve been noticing since about the 2nd or 1st week that he has had some redness around his eyes. I immediately made him a vet appointment and they said that his eye looks fine, just a little irratated. They said it could be allergies since he’s in a new home. They also said that he unfortunately has early signs of teeth disease and this could be causing it. I’m currently working on getting another vets opinion but they have been booked a lot since everyone bought pets during covid. But the wierd thing is that his eyes only look irratated at nighttime. I look at them in the day time every day, but at night they seem to be the most irratated. Has anyone else had this problem? If it could be his bedding, aspen shavings, or new hay, why is it that it only flares up at night or by the evenings everyday but fine by daytime and afternoons? He also plays, eats, uses the bathroom all normal. It’s not affecting his behavior at all.

Would you be able to provide a picture? Is there watering or swelling that occurs?

“Early signs of teeth disease” is vague — can you provide details? You didn’t mention x-rays being done, and when I think of teeth things impacting eye-things, I think of overgrown teeth roots that grow back further into the gum and irritate the back side of the eye ball. The need for occasional/regular dental maintenance is common in rabbits
