my bunny, donut- his nose is a little red and wet.

it’s just between the nose and the mouth. is this normal??

it’s not bleeding, it just looks like.. flesh?

It’s hard to see anything abnormal via the photo. My bunnies have just light thin fur in that spot. It’s normal for it to be a little moist (Not wet though) and just flesh pink is normal too. HOWEVER, with that said, is this something new with your bunny? That is the real key. How long have you had him, and when did you notice this?

Do you notice any discharge and does the fur around the area seem wet?

Keep an eye on it, but if there’s no discharge or wet fur as BB said, it could be from drinking water, eating veggies or licking himself.
There’s a lot to learn about your particular bunny in the first few weeks, since they all have different quirks. The important thing is to see if, in a couple of days, it is more red or more wet.

Have you taken him to the vet yet? It’s always a good idea with a new bunny to go for a baseline check up. That way the vet can make sure he’s healthy now, have a record of him to compare if he gets sick another time, trim his nails, check his teeth, and schedule him for a speuter depending on his age. And you can get to know your vet before it’s an emergency to be sure you’re comfortable.

What cute nose. Most rabbits noses are a little wet at times. I don’t worry unless they sneeze and there is discharge – sneezing is fine though, everyone has to sneeze.

My buns also have pink areas around their nose, like Binkybunny said, the fur is usually thinner in that area. I will ditto RabbitPam and suggest an initial vet check-up is a great idea. It can sometimes be a challenge to find a rabbit SAVVY vet, so if you need help locating one, please let us know.

This is my bunny Jerseys nose - this is normal for her.  It may be more obvious in the light coloured bunnies.  I have noticed darker coloured ones have slightly darker coloured flesh like the lip and nose.

I’ve said it already, but I just love the name “Donut”!  So cute.  You’ll soon discover you never stop learning about rabbits.  They’re mysterious!

Awwww little bunny lips! Those are my favorite part of a bunny (those and their cute lil chins). Usually that area is a light pink color, and if it is red, that seems to me like there is some kind of irritation. Is your bunny eating OK? Usually mine pick up their pellets with their lips, so if Donut’s lips hurt she might have some trouble eating, so watch that closely because it is very important that she eats consistently. If it continues to be an abnormal color, I think it might be a good idea to take her to the vet, especially if it seems like they are sore for her.
