  I’m really sorry if this is in the wrong place. I’m not sure exactly where it goes. And I have tried to search on the forum for answers but couldn’t find anything that directly addressed this.
  
  We have actually set Skipper’s spay day (yay!) to be in late November. I know it seems to be a long way off but with school and everything before I know it, it’s going to be the day of her spay. I know that buns should not have the opportunity to jump around in their cage after their spay because it could hurt them. I’m afraid of Skipper’s stubbornness. If she wants to go somewhere, she will. And no matter how well I try to block off her cage she’ll find a way up there. So my bf and I were thinking of building her a recovery pen out of NIC cubes with a roof to limit her exercise space and her ability to jump. If we do this would we have to familiarize her with the space as to not stress her out further when she gets home from it by putting her in a new one? And if we do how far in advance should we do this before her spay?

  I had an old cage given to me that came from one of those pet store that are way too dang small for a bunny that I used for Baby’s recovery. she did well but after about 72 hours I let her out on the floor to visit with her husbun Blue cause she was so lonely and lathargic and that perked her right up. anyway, She wasnt firmiluar with the cage at all, and the vet told me it shouldn’t matter too much cause she was still pretty dopped up and sleepy for the first day and a half. but each bunny is different. if you have a skittish bun that is a hider and not an explorer I would at least have it available for her to wonder in and out of it as she wants for a week or so to get used to it is what I would suggest.

  I think she`ll be okay as long as you put all of her stuff in there.

  Thank you guys. Do you have a suggestion as to how big it should be since she will be in there for about a week?

  Not sure about exact measurements but enough room to hop around comfortably. You don’t wan to restrict her movement too much, just her jumping.
