My male Holland Lop is 4 months old now and I am looking for a place to have him neutered…and possibly a vet to take him to for general care/issues. I am extremely nervous about something going wrong or putting my bunny through any pain/trauma…and even fear complications that could result in death..so I am very worried. I just want the best for him. Does anyone have any recommendations or experiences to share with vets/neutering places for bunnies in the Orlando (or generally Central Florida) area? Thank you!

P.S. Any insight to share on personal experience with your bunny being fixed is appreciated! I also worry his behavior or sweet personality may change after the surgery…

Here is one list of vets in the Orlando area: http://www.orlandorabbit.org/html/vets.html

Some of my bunnies were already spayed or neutered when I adopted them, but I never noticed any change in personality for the ones that I had prior to their surgeries.

Thanks Abelsmom! Glad your bunny’s surgery went well. I scheduled Finn’s for Friday (30th) at University Animal Hospital. It’s going to be $260 but I don’t mind paying the extra cost because she is doing blood work and an examination beforehand (in which other places were going to charge me additional costs for). I wish I had seen this post beforehand since you had it done for $120! I will keep that place in mind for future bunnies of mine Thanks again! I’m super nervous about the procedure and dropping him off in the morning and picking him up later! My little baby will be so scared! Can’t wait until it’s over with!

Thanks LongEaredLions! Surgery went well with no complications. Bunny was a bit lethargic yesterday but today he is alert, eating, drinking, and playful! He is returning to his normal self. I posted a question about his pain meds, which he refuses to take. Supposed to give him metacam twice a day but he jerks his head away when I try to give it to him..maybe he isn’t in pain? I’m wondering if I really NEED to force him to take the meds (like if they are needed for healing or have antibiotic in them)…or if you have any tips to get him to take it! Thanks!
