I got them at five months old from the same litter. They were bonded until they broke into very bad fights at six months with pulling out hair, biting each other’s ears and also they will go at each other’s privates. I got them neutered and it’s been about two weeks, but when reintroducing them it seemed to be going smoothly and then something snaps. I started out with taking them on car rides with a person watching over them in the back, and they cuddled each other for comfort. This went to bringing them to other neutral territory like the bathroom and living room, and they were more curious about their surroundings compared to each other. So I also tried putting them in a bath tub together and pulling up on YouTube sounds of a fire crackling. And they cuddled and even groomed each other. After all seemed to be going well, I brought them back into the bedroom and they sat together in their favorite spot and cuddled. This worked out for ten minutes, when suddenly one of them, Vi (who is known to be aggressive and bites), got up and started sniffing at Bell (quiet, very shy, and doesn’t bite) and then sniffed his privates, and went in to attack and bite at bell’s junk. I had a spray bottle ready and he backed off for a minute, and then charged again. This happened a few times, with Bell tolerating it but also moving away when Vi would try to bite his junk, and me spraying him to make him back off. Eventually, Bell wouldn’t tolerate it and then the spray bottle did nothing and they started fighting which was broken up quickly by my boyfriend. We separated them and then tried again a few times with the same results. They would be calm at first and even cuddling and grooming each other, but Vi would suddenly decide to “look” at Bell’s privates and then try to bite, Bell would tolerate it a few times, until he gets fed up and they fight again. I take take turns letting them out of their cages, and all the time they’ll groom each other through the cage or lay next to each other. Bell seems to miss his brother a lot and is willing to make things up with him, and Vi seems to want to too, but suddenly Vi will snap and then they’re stuck in the middle of the rebonding process. Is it just too early to try to rebond after neutering, is Vi just incapable of rebonding, or am I misunderstanding how to do this?

In my opinion, yes, it’s too soon after their neuter. Some rabbits are even more erratic right after neuter and need more time for the hormones to level out.

I’ve never had more than one bunny, but I do lots of rabbit research just for fun, and from what I’ve read, you need to wait after neutering because their hormones and stuff will not be completely gone yet. It may just be too soon, but I also don’t think that it’s impossible to bond them, it just may take a little more effort.
