Ok this is a really weird question but is it safe for rabbits to lick you? Like I feel like I’m weirdly paranoid about him licking me because I don’t know what I’ve touched. If I’ve eaten something that is harmful to rabbits, and there’s some left over on my hands and I didn’t realize it could it hurt them? Or like if I just put on hand sanitizer and they lick my hand I’m assuming it would taste really gross but would it harm them?

it’s a good question, and the main answer would be yes, it’s safe for them to lick you, but if you know you were handling something toxic, a quick hand rinse can’t hurt.

Generally, unless you somehow got your hands on something immensely toxic, the small amount they’d get from licking you won’t really do much.

On the other hand, understand that they may lick you right after eating a cecotrope, in which case congratulations you now have poop spit on yourself, haha.

I do get the occasional allergic reaction from my rabbits’ licks, though only sometimes.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be overly paranoid about it. As Wick said, it’s unlikely there would be enough of whatever present to actually cause harm. Just make sure you wash your hands if you’ve handled something really bad.
