Hi…I know this is for rabbits but I had a question about a NIC cage for my hedgheog. Pogo the bunny and Elmo the hedge used to share a cage but Pogo REFUUUUUSED to leave the hedgehog food alone. I have to separate them so Pogo doesn’t get sick on the insectivore diet kibble. I want to make a 2 level cage for Elmo but I’m not sure what to use for a ramp. He needs something with pretty good traction and I can’t have it too steep. Any ideas?

I have a three level home for my bunnies and I used the cube panels themselves and ziptied a peice of cardboard to the cube panel. on top of that I put some old burber carpet I had and ziptied the corners on to it. and it worked great.

Thanks for the suggestion. I think I could do that with a few added hedgie modifications (they’re not as coordinated as buns!). I’d have to make a sort of rail around the edges so he doesn’t fall off the side of the upper level. Does anyone know if it’d be enough support if I put the upper level half way up the first grid instead of a full grid tall…

I don’t know if that made any sense.

I don’t see why it wouldn’t be, hedgies don’t weigh very much right?
What about stapling/glueing some balsa wood along the side?
I think this thread needs photos

I would put up photos but for some reason it never works when I try and they always come out VERY dark on my computer. The bun and hedge are in the basement where it’s darker. I can never get any pictures to go on here anyways. I think I’ll try to make a rail out of balsa like you said. Either that or choroplast pieces. If I can figure out the picture problem I will definitely post!
