An indoor rabbit isn’t very likely to get rabies. Rabies is very uncommon in rabbits.

The way rabies is transmitted most often is by biting (via the saliva), so as long as your rabbit is not exposed to a rabid animal, there’s no risk for exposure.

AS long as your rabbit isn’t bitten by (and bleeds from the bite) a wild animal, you have nothing to worry about – and even if they are, the chance they are infected is somewhat low.

Hi honsbeek! Yes, rabbits can get rabies, usually it is transmitted via a bite by raccoons, dogs or a predator of a rabbit but I imagine it can happen from a squirrel too. I would say that it has a much higher chance of happening whilst a rabbit is outdoors (obviously) but indoors it could happen too, say if a bat were making a home out of your house or a squirrel, even if one had a dog as a pet and it contracted rabies.

Here is a bit of an article on the subject:

Yes, as Scarlet Rose said – I had this discussion with my vet about rabbits getting rabies. She said she has read of cases but has never seen a case as most of her rabbit patients are indoor rabbits – another very good reason to keep your rabbit indoors at all times.

Oh yes, I neglected to include rodents like rats and mice too! That’s good you don’t have bats.
