I got my rabbit back on jul 13 of 2017 so it has been over 6 months since I had her. She is about 8 months old. Ever since I got her we have of course been slowly bonding by feeding her, caring for her, her getting used to me, and letting her have free time around me and in the last few months about month 4 and 5 that I had her the bonding really peaked and she was following me around, licking me, and always got excited to see me so I was very happy to see she was finally fully bonded with me. In the last month I feel she has been kind of unbonding with me she puts her paws up and scratches me when I go to pet her sometimes, she also lightly nibbles/bites my hand sometimes when I try to pet her or pick her up, and she has stopped following me around my room when I let her out for playtime and I have been really confused and upset. I have no I idea what is happening and I have been very sad that she has been not loving me as much. She is a female, unspayed, 8 month old holland lop.

I think it’s probably because she’s now 8 months old and unspayed. Rabbits often become more aggressive and less friendly when they get hormonal and need to be spayed.

It’s best to spay female rabbits for health reasons anyway, as lots of unspayed rabbits will get cancer.

It doesn’t sound like anything you’ve done, it’s just natural behaviour for a hormonal adult rabbit.

I agree that it sounds like it could be just hormones and it’s time to get her spayed. Also, buns don’t like being picked up, and even if they tolerated it as baby buns, will not tolerate it closer to adulthood.

She’s basically a teenager going through puberty now. It’s common for young teenagers not to want to hang out with their parents =)
