Hi! So my 4-year-old rabbit is and unneutered male, I know, please don’t get mad at me. When I got him, I honestly didn’t know that much about rabbits, and by the time I had learned that neutering male rabbits was probably a good thing to do, he was older, and I didn’t want to run the risk of getting him neutered then, because I know that once they get a bit older,  fixing them can be very dangerous. So, I have an unneutered male, but he is SUCH a good bunny behaviourally, even though he’s not neutered. He never mounts or humps, rarely even sprays urine, and in the very, very odd chance that he does, it’s only in one or two places in the house. So, even though he’s very good behaviourally, I worry about cancer when he gets older. I know this is rare in males, but I am very paranoid, and wonder if any of you know how to prevent this, or know of anything that could help make this never happen. Any and all help is apreciated!!

Testicular cancer is pretty rare, but if you want a surefire way of preventing it, neutering is the only way. 🙂 4 years is not too old to be neutered at all. So if you are concerned, that would be the solution.

Agree with Dana. Neutering at his age shouldn’t be an issue. 🙂  If the vet told you that he’s too old, find a new vet.

I agree with the other posts. One of mine is getting neutered next week and he’s five years old. 🙂

FYI – I only just adopted him and he’s not even in my house yet!

Wow! Ok, thank you guys. For some reason I always thought that neutering and spaying once they’re older than around4-6 months was dangerous. Good to know!!

Absolutely agree with the others. The risk of cancer is small. Neutering is more for behavioral issues. He may be a good boy now, but he would need to be neutered if you ever wanted to get him a friend.
