        Sorry long post ahead!

13 Weeks ago we drove over an hour to adopt a rabbit that turned out to be severely matted and had fleas. We decided to adopt her anyways because we immediately fell in love with her and felt bad for the condition she was in. We were told she had an attitude and was going through her teen hormone stage as she had just turned 5 months. I seriously thought she hated me.. She lunged at me, tried to bite me, growled at me and did not want me to go anywhere near her. I gave her space thinking she just needed time and that she just needed to get spayed and it would help. 2 weeks after I brought her home I woke up to her pulling her hair out and hair everywhere. I immediately thought she was having a false pregnancy because there was no way that she could be pregnant from the rescue. When I returned home that night I almost had a heart attack. I came in to check on her and I could see tiny little things squirming underneath her. She had 5 little babies and for everything she had been through she was such a good mother to them. She has not lunged, growled or tried to bite me since and on numerous occasions fed those babies right in front of me. She is such a little love bug and the best rabbit I could have ever asked for. Of course during the 8 weeks we took care of her babies, we fell in love and decided to keep them as well. I threw away all the furniture that was in my formal living room ( we never used that room anyways) and sent pictures I found on pinterest to my father and asked him to build pens for me for Trixie and her babies since my husband and I are not handy at all. We now have Trixie in a pen by herself and the boys in one pen and the girls in another pen. The vet said it would be fine to keep them like this as long as we didn’t see any fighting and to take the boys together to get fixed and the girls all together to get fixed when the time comes and hopefully we can re bond all of them later on.

            What a lovely bunny room

Thank you! I almost forgot to post a picture of Trixie and her babies! Not sure what kind of rabbit she is but I am assuming she is some kind of lionhead by the looks of the babies. And poor puff is the only baby that ended up with no hair at all

They’re so spoiled with that amazing set up! I am really wondering now if I -need- my living room.

That is a great setup you have for the bunnies. It’s wonderful that you were able to keep all of the babies. It can be very hard to find good homes for rabbits. What a lovely family! Puff looks like a Dutch rabbit mix to me – very cute, just like they all are.

Did you notify the rescue about the babies?

                              Thanks everyone!

We did notify the rescue, they got shut down by animal control a few weeks after we got Trixie for unknown reasons. They did apologize and said that it was a very crazy time and they were unsure if a male had gotten to her or if perhaps she came to them already pregnant but they had had for a month and I had her for two weeks before she gave birth so I would think it had to have happened at the rescue. Either way I couldn’t imagine my life without them now.

Puff got his name because he tricked us when he was a baby!!! He was a tiny little ball of puff with the smallest ears I had ever seen, he looked exactly like a tiny teddy bear. I was convinced that he had some sort of stunted growth on his ears because they were way smaller than all of his siblings! And then one day they just started to grow and then they didn’t stop and his ears grew bigger than everyone else’s and his fur never grew at all!
