  My 4 year old male, neutered rabbit has stopped peeing in his litter box. It’s been this way for a while and I think it may have started after I got my 1 year old female rabbit so he could have a friend. The two are bonded, get along perfectly fine, and are free to roam the room at all times. At first, he started peeing on both of their beds which I posted about a while back and the answers pointed to that rabbits just like to pee on soft things. I decided that I would just wash and clean their bed everyday/ every other day because I have wood floor and want them to have something comfortable to rest on. Now, not only does he pee on the beds, but he also pees around his litter box and around the beds as well. He does this at least twice a day. I also noticed he licks the beds a lot. I’m not sure how to fix this problem or what is causing it. Any opinions/suggestions/answers?

  When i first got my rabbit she refused to pee in her litter box, then I got her a “bed” and she liked to pee in the “bed” more. Her bed used to be all washcloths and hand towels in a litter pan (cat litter pan) (the top towel is always smooth). However, the laundry got ridiculous, so now her “bed” is a thin layer of the the rabbit bedding (the kind that is fluffy), second layer is a thin layer of pelleted paper litter, then I put some wash clothes spread out for the next layer, and the final layer is a hand towel with a smooth top. The mix does vary because laundry. It will be more work but my rabbit loves it. I recommend to not use micro fiber towels because hay and just everything sticks to them which make it hard to wash. I clean up my rabbits poop daily out of the “litter box” but I change the washcloths around every week (sometimes less, I do have two litter boxes). I actually find this way a lot less smellier but it is also harder to clean. Good Luck, I hope I helped!!

  It also saves me money on the litter. You can think of it as a cloth diaper for babies compared to disposable diapers.
