I swear my female rabbit is such a diva. I was curious to see if anyone rabbit does this too. My female rabbit will charge my hand when I have food in it. She literally will never wait for me to put it down, she will just make a grunt sound and change my hand and take it from me, sometimes she will end up nipping me for it. She is not a big fan of me fooling with her cage, so I tend to only fool with it when she is not in it. But with food it’s a little harder. I was wondering what other people do for their rabbits who act like this. I have to put her food in her cage because of prebonding. I would like her to eat in front of the gate that divides my other bunny.

But to be honest I’m scared she is going to bite to hard one day. Lol! So if anyone has any tips and tricks on how to give her food without her lunging at me, I would love to hear them. Thanks!

She is different from my other rabbit who is a cuddle bug and loves attention, so it’s a learning process with her to find out what works and what doesn’t.

This I should not too uncommon with rabbits, especially girl rabbits. She wants the piece of food badly, but she doesn’t trust you completely -that’s how I’d interpret the situation. I think she sees your hand in her habitat as an intruder. At the same time, she really, really wants the piece of food. If you are afraid she’ll bite, you could wear gloves, for example loose-fitting gardening gloves for when you absolutely have to put food down near her.

This behavior could wear off with time, when she learns to trust you. But there is a risk it could persist, because some buns are very markedly territorial. It’s normal in either case.
