        Hi everybun,

I’m worried sick right now… I left a small trail of liquid raid along the side of a wall in my bedroom and without thinking, brought Anna into my room to hang out for a bit.  I noticed she started licking the floor, and immediately remembered the raid.  She definitely ingested at least some of it.  It is like a honey consistency and I assume tastes sweet which is why she began licking it.

Online it says the active ingredient in liquid ant raid is 7.7% borax, which I heard is okay (not good obviously), for rabbits if ingested in small quantities.

I’m freaking out. Anyone have any experience with rabbits ingesting insecticide??

        thanks!

Have you called an emergency vet or poison control for animals? Either of them will Tell you what to do with a deadly chemical like that. Does it have brodifacoum? It’s an anticoagulant and is deadly. Does raid have a 24/7 number you can call and ask them the specific product you have and if it’s non toxic?

          I used this website https://www.cesarsway.com/dog-care/poison-and-eating-bad-things/household-items-that-could-harm-your-dog

You need to call a vet and get professional advice. In the UK, I know that there’s a poison hotline that the vet can call for a small fee, which works out what dosage your pet will have injested and whether they need treatment.

If it’s only borax, it’s not very toxic, but in high doses it can cause immediate gastrointestinal upset and after prolonged exposure also seizures and confusion. Your bun probably didnt ingest a large dose, but I think I’d still call a vet and ask, just to be safe.

Some ant poisons are really toxic to dogs, but they have other ingredients than borax. The reason dogs and rabbits eat ant poison is because its mixed with sugary stuff to attract the ants.

I agree. If it is JUST borax, it probably won’t cause a problem. However, other ingredients could potentially be very toxic. It would be best to call a pet poison hotline or even the local emergency vet. Sometimes they can tell you over the phone if something requires treatment.
