Our rabbit Monty recently had an abscess on the back of his neck (seems the poor thing had it when we got him and the person who sold him to us didn’t notice!). He’s recovering from it nicely with daily antibiotics but during treatment the vet had to shave off some of the fur around it.

I was wondering if anyone else who’s bunny has had any fur shaved off could tell me how long it might take to grow back? It doesn’t seem to bother him especially but I worry he gets cold! I feel so sorry for him missing a patch of fur.

It could take awhile so just be patient. I’m sure he’s just fine with a small patch missing.

It’s a good thing he had you to take care of him and get him to a vet :~)

It took Monkey quite awhile to have her fur grow back in after she got spayed. Don’t worry, it will grow in, may just take some time

It can take quite awhile for the hair to grow back- the body seems to recognize a wound or injury and regrow hair that after the skin has healed- but I have noticed in bunnies that shaved areas seem to grow back much slower than they would in a dog or cat.  But I would not worry about it- it was necessary to keep the hair out of the wound and speed healing.
