Shortly after we bought 2 rabbits, one of the rabbits had a big bump on its body-hidden in his fur.  Today, I notice the bite mark was from my pet rat.  I didn’t notice the cages were so close and my rat only bites if your near oustide of the cage.  What can I do? I had a older rat that bit me on my nose, but nothing happened to me cuz she bites from outside of cage too.  Do i need to take my rabbit to the vet?  I noticed the spot my pet rat bit her was the bump on her body, but now its a big bubble.  Its like popping out of the fur.   If not, how can i treat it at home?

I would have it looked at by a vet. Bites can easily turn to abscesses. Also, a vet can treat incase anyhing was transferred from your rat to your rabbit.

Definitely take your bun tot eh vet. A swelling bubble could be a bad thing. And make sure your rat can’t bite your bunnies anymore

I’m know I’m a bit late here but….It sounds like your bunny could be developing an abscess from the bite wound. If that is the case, you do need to treat those rather quickly. Some can grow pretty fast and also grow out little string like tentacles that can attach to muscle. Can quickly go from just needing a cleaning out and antibiotics to surgery, so I’d get her to a vet asap to keep this under control.

Any update on how she is today? Did she see a vet?
