It’s been around a month since my bun got spayed and her fur hasn’t really grown back. I’ve tried to look for information online and it said it could be the trauma of the skin or that she just needs to moult but it doesn’t really explain why it grows like patches on her nipples!!! It’s a similar case with her leg as well. The vets shaved it to take a blood test but it’s also very short.

I’m not too concerned because it seems like a lot of people have this problem when their rabbits get spayed but it’s very weird since the fur that is short hasn’t really grown at all. It’s about the same length as when she first had it shaved. What could it be?

        (leg fur)

        (stomach fur)

(it looks like she’s super sick here but she’s ok I promise, she was just in the middle making herself comfy lol!)

I don’t know if this will help at all, but I actually snipped some fur from my bunny, a very small patch, because I was making something and needed a lock of his fur.. I know I sound like the biggest creepiest person right now..ugh.. But the fur did not grow back at all until his next molt months later. I remember seeing the patch I harvested from I don’t know if bunny fur grows like human hair.. Also my friend has a bunny, and she had surgery, they had to drill a hole in her nasal cavity to save her life, and shaved her beautiful furry head, the fur hasn’t  grown back yet it’s been about 6 months.   Just thought I would share that with you.  My bunny is 11 so I have taken note of things like this over the years.

Rabbit fur doesn’t grow continuously like human hair, it grows in cycles. If you happen to shave a bunny when the growth cycle isn’t in growth-mode, so to speak, it can be a while until new fur grows out. It’s perfectly normal and dogs are the same way.

Yepp, it took Luna ages to grow back the fur on her belly after her spay Nothing to worry about

I remember one of Gina.Jenny’s girls had the same thing happen after her spay, I don’t remember if it was Gina or Jenny though. And my dog had to have her belly shaved for an ultrasound when she was little, it took ages for it to grow back. But as long as the skin is fine and smooth (and it looks like it is on the picture), it’s perfectly normal.

Gina and Jenny both had this problem, it took both girls months berfore the spay sight was normally covered again, I don’t think its too much to worry about.
