I might seem like a bad owner, but a few days ago, I was watching some videos with my holland lop on my lap, petting him. Apparently I was subconsciously tugging some of his fur on the side. after a few minutes i realize that a bunch of fur was EVERYWHERE. He didnt seem like in pain, he was relaxed, spread out all comfortable on my lap. I doubt I was pulling that hard. Could it be that he’s shedding/molting? I havent seen this yet with him. I’ve only had him since late august 2017.

This is my first rabbit, I’ve had no big experiences with them. is this bad? will it grow back? is he molting?

Please let me know, I’m a big beginner, and I want to learn more about buns ;o

I think he’s molting. Rabbits can very well molt in clumps and even get bald spots while it’s going on. It’s normal and the hair grows back. You should brush him now (or pick out tufts of hair with your fingers or use any other loose-hair-removal method he’ll accept) while the molt is going on, so theres not a lot of loose fur for him to ingest when he grooms himself. Loose hairs can clog up the digestive system, so brushing is important. He seems like a pretty relaxed bun so hopefully he’ll not be difficult about it.

Normal. My bunny has several bald spots right now, some are just pink skin and some are in various stages of re-growth. Some bunnies molt this way.
