My bun just had abscess surgery and I was asked to place neosporin on the wound… She found a way to take off the collar and licked the neosporin off…. What should I do. It was about 0.1 or less cc’s!?!?!?!

Was it the kind with pain reliever in it? If not, it should be ok as long as it was only a little bit.

The stuff with the pain reliever shouldn’t be used on rabbits.

IF it’s non-Cortizone kind I think it should be okay. If it has cortizone in it you need to get your bunny to the vet ASAP because that stuff is highly highly toxic to them.

The type of neosporin with the pain reliever in it is often called “Neosporin PLUS” so if that is the type that you have, then call your vet right away and let them know what happened. Regular Neosporin (without the PLUS) is the type that is recommended for rabbits.

Licking a little of the REGULAR neosporin won’t hurt.    Cotton did it quite a bit when I was using it for him.

Hope everything is ok and you didnt’ have the toxic one.

Let us know as I know me as well as others are concerned and would like an update.   Thank you

Yes all, it was the regular one, not plus… I should have mentioned that. She seems ok right now. Thank you all!

                    Oh good

I’m not sure if ‘all’ but MOST topical creams you can use on a bunny-like neosporin or preperation h-are ok if they like them off-because in all likelihood-they will lick some of it off
