I decided to try out different litters for my rabbit to see what worked best for him. I’ve been mixing pine pellets and Carefresh together and that seems to work okay. I bought Yesterday’s News yesterday and decided to try that in his litter box today but I’ve been monitoring him and he keeps returning to the litter box to eat the new litter. Obviously, I stop him but I don’t understand why he would do this, any ideas?

Rabbits test new things often by tasting them. A few tastes shouldn’t hurt him, as long as he isn’t swallowing mass quantities. I know we have had others with this issue–maybe someone will give more insight.

When I first switched from carefresh to wood pellets, both of mine had a little nibble. They soon realised the wood pellets aren’t to be eaten tho! How much is he eating?

Ditto, sarah. They soon realized it wasn’t something good to eat.
