About a week ago I rescued a rabbit from a hoarding situation from the Rat Chick Rat Rescue in Philadelphia. Her name is Annabelle and she’s a complete sweetheart, except she is a few pounds overweight. I’m currently bonding her with my first rabbit, Oskar a lean Dwarf Rabbit weighing 3.75 pounds. Annabelle is a regular sized Hotot and weighs about 10 pounds and this week she moved into her new two story habitat where she has a bunch of space to move around. Whenever I let her out she does not move at all, instead lays down and goes to sleep. During our bunny boding sessions is when she’s the most active because she follows around Oskar who runs EVERYWHERE all the time.
Do you think once they become closer she will be more active in an effort to follow Oskar? Likewise, should I limit Annabelle’s pellets? She has a bad habbit of eating all of her food then going into Oskar’s home and eating all of his. I want her to at least lose 1 – 2 pounds, but how should I start? I stopped giving her treats and started giving her greens instead when she listens to what I say and when her and Oskar are being nice to each other.
What should I do?
