My baby rabbit Fern has been let out for exercise since July 27th, two days after I bought her. She is a super calm bunny and is already binkying and bunny flopping all over my room, and now she lets me pet her sometimes. She’s also my first bunny, and I noticed that she started digging and ripping at my carpet. Since she bumps her nose at my hand and pushes me away when she’s irritated/wants attention, I thought I’d push her nose whenever I catch her doing inappropriate behavior. (With the same force that she does to me, it’s very gentle) Is this the right way to get her to stop this behavior? I don’t want her ingesting it or ruining it.

It depends on how hard she is digging at the carpet. For instance, my bun Thor will dig a bit at our carpet but has never actually torn out any fibers. If she is pulling out fibers, it’s a bit hard to stop this behavior by scolding (since when you are away, this won’t work and you can’t always be watching her). I have resorted to putting down ceramic tiles (from the hardware store, cheap and fairly heavy) in places where she likes to dig. This has worked well for us to stop digging

My little guy used to have a BIG carpet chewing problem. Hes not really into toys. I would slide my hand under his mouth and he would stop for little while. I ended up putting an old area carpet (a 5×7) over the areas he chewed and it hasnt been a problem since!
