I have separated Ebony and Marley from the boys and also Ebony and Marley are separated.

When could I put the females back together and not have Marley trying to suckle off mum?

I know it has been asked before, is it better to bond male/female or you can bond female/female or male/male.

I have so many males and I know that Dawn8940 was thinking of maybe having one and her Luey is a male.

Just asking as there would be more choice if a male bonded with a male.

We had a mother/daughter bond (actually there are tons of them out there) recently – we had Opal (now passed away) spayed right away and kept her with her daughter Mocha. No problems at all and Mocha was very bonded with her mom and at the sanctuary we have lots of mother/daughter pairs as well. We have quite a few male/male bonds too so any bonds can be done. Honestly though I cannot remember what happened to get Mocha to stop suckling on mom :~( I guess once she reached a certain age she just stopped – spaying doesn’t necessarily dry up the milk either according to my vet.

I think I would also keep Marley with mum and not split them up seeing as she is the only female and not likely to cause too much stress if she does try to suckle. I think she would most likely wean herself off mum and it would be nice for them both to still have company.

the boys could definitely bond i think… i’d suggest keeping them together as long as you can and neutering them (if this is something you were going to do yourself) as soon as safely possible… maybe take them in two at a time.  they may not even break that bond if you don’t wait too long.  what does everyone else think about that?  of course, you’d want to be sure that any prospective home is willing to take the bonded pair.

Any bonding combination is possible. Some are just a bit easier than others. I don’t remember if rabbits from the same litter are more prone to bonding with each other or not.
