Hi, I have a few questions. If you are bitten by your pet bunny but it doesn’t break the skin and only leaves a bruise, are you in need of a tetanus shot or a rabies shot? There was no bleeding and no puncture but i just have a bruise on my arm. She bit me out of fear and it wasn’t a proper clamp down on my arm just a nip but it did hurt and left a bruise. Also rabies is not something I need to be concerned with if she is an indoor rabbit and I have had her for 6 months now, right?

I’m sorry your rabbit nipped you, but rabbits sometimes do nip – not just if they’re scared. They can nip for attention or if they think you’re in their way etc. It’s obv good not to encourage it, ie if a bun nips to get a treat, dont give a treat.

There’s nothing you have to do if she didnt break the skin. If she had broken the skin you just wash the wound and keep it clean. Rabbit bites are very low risk, not at all like cat bites. Rabies wouldn’t be a concern if she’s an indoor rabbit and you’ve had her for 6 months.
