Dana Krempels is doing a survey on rabbit behaviour for anyone who`d like to help out.

 Takes about 10 min or so to fill out and you can only pick one bunny.

I have looked at the survey but yet to submit it. With Qu’s about bunny showing aggression toward people, do you answer toward other people, or include yourself in this? One question asks as to which people they show aggression toward, doesn’t included owner as option. Confused as to what questions are trying to gain info on. Aggression to strangers, family members, chief care giver?

Jerseygirl – I think the aggression towards people include yourself and any other people. I believe there’s an option that says “members of the household” or something to that effect – and the owner and any other people that live with you and your bun would be included in that category (at least that was my interpretation). I think they’re just getting at aggression to people in general, but looking for differences in subsets (people they live with vs. strangers etc.) Hope that helps!

Yes I remember a question stated aggression towards family members.   At the very end there  or the survery is a place to put    Info about Bunny You would like them to know.    You can add comments there. 

Seems like they were trying to find out if spneuter made a difference too.

Did anyone find it kind of negative? My bun chews and chases people, but I think it’s all in good fun and not “destructive” or “aggressive” behavior. Maybe I was too sensitive?

In school they made the first years be ‘guinea pigs’ for grad students. You had to take part in their studies; this involved taking alot of surveys like this one. I always try to figure out what they are studying or trying to prove with the surveys.

I believe this one was to show that rabbits’ who are properly looked after (spay/neutered given toys and time out) have less aggressive/destructive behaviors then those who aren’t. Just my feeling on the survey.

So furbaby I totally see where your coming from, I found there was a lot of questions like that but I think what she’s trying to show is that there are less behaviors like that with well looked after buns like ours!

Furbaby:  Unfortunately, in the medical field everything is pathology based, meaning you are always looking at the negatives in order to plan, diagnose, study, etc.  That is really why surveys, etc. seem sooo negative. 

Despite the individual goals of clinicians to be more positive, it’s not something readily accepted in these fields.  Hope that answers your concern.

I just took it for Amelia – it was pretty easy because almost everything is N/A because she’s never shown aggression and she has never been destructive!

Just did it, I am interested to see if they find out anything new. I never noticed a change in chewing or digging after Honey was spayed?!

Furbaby, I think the place where your opinion can be made is where it asks if you consider it a problem. This may indicate the difference between those who screech with one nip and drop a bunny off for adoption, and those of us who stop noticing much, but keep the tube of Bacitracin handy for scratches and nips. Then order a new chew toy from BB!

Sammy is in the dog house today and she knows it. She fought me this morning and made me late for work. Growling, hiding, boxing, biting, the works. I’m ignoring her, and boy, does she know I disapprove! She went back into her house already tonight, even though the cage door is open. A naughty girl. With a good memory.

I know this survey has been on their site for at least a year. Does anyone know when the results will be posted?

I just did it but I had a real hard time getting to the page – I had to use google & find them as explorer just refused to open the address but once getting it to open in explorer through google, the address was identical – another explorer glitch I’m thinking.

I know there are only so many variables that they can think of but I think it made my 2 sound aggessive because of the mounting when they 1st met & were bonding. I had to admit they did but there was no spot for how long it went on  – 30 days not forever LOL And I would not have called that aggression. LOL

I filled it out for Shadow. I believe what was missing was the effect of multi species homes. My cats and dogs get along well with him. But, when Cleo decides she wants to eat hay or sleep in his condo. Shadow becomes a little poop machine. I can always tell what is going on during the day. If Cleo jumps over the baby gate, Shadow will intercept her in mid air. But she can walk through with no challenges. Go figure.

I filled it out for Emrys. One part of the survey the didn’t seem to address was the reason for the aggression. Emrys is only aggressive towards humans when he feels threatened, which is pretty much whenever I make any movement towards him. He doesn’t trust me at all. You’d think that after three months he might decide that the person who gives the vegs can’t be all bad.
