Oh boy. Nova got ahold of a single piece of chewing gum left in my trashcan. She only ate one. She has gotten into some very interesting things before including, remote buttons, doritos, a piece of a reese’s cup, a lemon cough drop (wrapper included) etc…. She really finds the craziest things. She has proven to have an iron stomach but of course I am still worried! I read a few posts about other people’s rabbits getting into chewing gum on here and I just wanted to ask how long I should monitor her closely, how long do you think it will take her to pass it? She is happy as can be right now chomping away on her hay and I just bought her two fresh bowls of water. Any advice helps thank you!

Sorry this post was missed! How is she doing now?
We had another members rabbit just eat a small bit of gum. It seemed to cause a bit of gas discomfort from appearances. A whole piece might be more of an issue. With fibrous food, it can move through their system quite quickly, depending on size of the fibre. I really don’t know how they process gum. Hopefully the high acid stomach helps break it down and it pass out with the normal poop.

I do recall a warning about carob pods (locust bean) as treats as it contains a natural gum. I cannot find where I read that or if it’s the gum or sugar that was the concern. :/

I hope {{{Nova}}} is doing okay.
