Binkie is in the midst of getting though a 3 week GI Stasis issue, and in the matter of seconds just managed to slip into my sisters room and started to nibble on a leaf under a chair before I could catch him. My sister is almost positive it’s a wild bay leaf from a floral bouquet she got. He only had about one nibble, but I am so worried on top of everything else he’s been going through. I’ve seen mixed reviews on bay leaf being toxic or not and just wondering if anyone’s had any experience or info on it.

        Thanks,
        Tate

From what I can find, California wild bay leaves don’t seem to be toxic to humans except in very high concentration (extracts). I can’t find anything about rabbits and wild bay leaves. If he just had a tiny nibble I think he’ll be fine.

I’m sorry he’s been having GI trouble.

Thank you for the info. It’s been almost 7 hours, so I’m assuming if there was any serious issue, that would have occurred by now. He’s currently lying under my bed being pretty quiet, but that’s typical of this time of day for him. It’s also hard to tell because he is in some discomfort from the GI issues, but again, I’m assuming if it was very toxic the effect would have been more immediate. And he only had such a tiny nibble, but I’m already on heightened alert about him in general so that was like icing on the stress cake. Hoping he’s back to himself very soon, been along couple weeks.

            Thanks very much again
