Quick question…

So, Nixie has been chewing up the tiles I put on her second floor and I’ve tried so many things to stop her, but all have failed…my question is…could I just put a piece of plywood as the second floor? Is it safe for her to chew? Also, can she get any kind of splinters from jumping on/off it? I know it holds smell, but she’s good with her litterbox and it would be easily replaceable if needed.

What kind of tiles do you have now? I’m not really sure about the plywood uncovered. I think usually people who use it cover it with linoleum or “peel and stick” tiles. Another option is to attach a layer of cardboard. That’s easily replaceable.

I have laminate “peel and stick” kind of tiles. I went back to Lowes last night and got something thats made out of plastic and fits snuggly along the edge of the floor. So I guess I’ll see if that works…she is such a chewer on everythinggg!

Marlee’s cage took one night to put together and I haven’t had to modify or fix anything since then. Nixie’s is like getting close to a month in modifications and fixes!

Some buns are very content with their surroundings… others always want to “remodel”… lol.

Putting something around the edges sounds like it will work.

also, you can get a few seagrass mats and just leave them loose in there. Nixie may prefer to chew and pull on those, which would be easy and actually good for her (like woven hay) and may keep her from going for the tiles. I use strips of them on the edges of my apartment carpet to cover favorite chew spots, and Sammy quickly got bored with the whole thing, but chewed the mats on occasion.

She eats an entire seagrass mat in less than 3 days..even the large one from the BB store! lol…I think she must just be a silly bun. She’s also still really young, so I think she’ll probably grow out of it and settle down once it’s been a little longer since her spay.

What about a willow basket? My bun loves his willow basket. You can cut the bottom so it is flat. That is great to chew on and will last longer than the seagrass does (it’s so weak). My bun chews up the seagrass mats quick too. Not the willow!

She eats her willow baskets too in no time flat..I actually have to find the phone number and activate my new debit card so I can reorder another one from the BB store.

I just put one of those big cereal boxes (that holds two bags) in her cage and that distracts her quite a bit…

Btw, Nibbles look at my Nixie the weekend I brought her home. I think ours could be twins..ha
