Hi, I was thinking of getting Fern a litter pan with a edge to keep the litter in better. When Fern jumps out of her litterbox often some poop and litter get flung with her or in another direction. Do you think a litter pan like this would prevent that? Have any of you tried a litter box like that? Did it work well?

The litter pan I was looking at looks like this:

        what do you think?

I’d say it’s worth a try if he’s not doing it intentionally!

you can try. depending on how high she’s flinging it, it might or might not work. have you thought about just getting a regular covered cat litterbox? you could even get an inexpensive storage container and turn it upside down over her existing litterbox with a hole cut out in the side…

I use one very similar to that one for Nova. It cost me $10 at Petsmart. I only use it because she digs though, I don’t know if it prevents flinging of poop. I also have a high back one that I also got from Petsmart for $6 for Hubble, also a cat box that I think would maybe work better for you. Nova is pretty light on her feet so when she jumps most of the stuff stays in place, but Hubble is clumsy, heavy and awkward and when he jumps things hit the back of his litterbox. I think it would depend on the type of litter you use as well. I use Yesterdays News, so it’s heavier than some of the fluffy paper stuff, but maybe not as heavy as some litters.

Hubble’s is similar to this, but it doesn’t have the heart shape and it’s bigger (plus it’s less expensive!). This pan is rather small and I wouldn’t recommend it. http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3120660

I don’t have this one, but it looks like it might be good.
