I have a question about this condo: princessblackie.homestead.com/ (which I found after a google search)

I know nothing about these things, if that isn’t obvious yet, it will be soon.

See the top shelf? Isn’t that dangerous for a bunny? What if the rabbit fell? Is that a concern? Do rabbits fall off of stuff?

Also, In the article this lady wrote she said she called the company to check to see if the paint was safe. What do we ask to see if paint is safe (I’m assuming the guy answering the phone doesn’t know if the paint is bunny safe, but he can probably tell you what’s in the paint at least.)

        Thanks Bunny-masters.

I think the top is not actually a shelf, that is just the “roof” of the condo. I think the shelves are wood with some kind of flooring – you are right though that you would not want your rabbit on the grids for shelves, that would be dangerous.

These are the cubes that everyone uses so I’m pretty sure they are safe. It’s true that they probably couldn’t tell you if a product is specifically “rabbit” safe but they don’t really produce these to be rabbit condo’s either :~) I think though since this is what is universally used by rabbit and guinea pig owners, it should be safe.

          It’s a very nice condo.

That’s a very nice condo design! Anybunny would be lucky to have a home like that.

The shelves in the cage are safe because the owner has attached wood (or another solid surface) to them. It also looks like they’re supported well with dowels so they’re strong enough. Finally, she has the shelves overlapping so if the bun did fall off (not that it’s likely) it would just land on the next level. You don’t want to set up shelves so that the bun could fall farther than one level down if they did happen to slip. But, in general, rabbits are good jumpers and won’t have a problem with the shelves.

As far as paint goes, I don’t think it’s a problem. 50% of house rabbit owners probably use NIC cubes and I haven’t heard of them being unsafe yet.

When i first brought our bunny home, she was so little so i had no shelves in her condo. A couple of weeks later i added some at a low level with ramps. Once she mastered jumping/climbing more, i moved the shelves up a tad higher as her height grew and she needed taller “ceilings”.

I finally removed one ramp this month on her first/second floor (once i was certain she was jumping on our bed with no problem). It is easier for her to jump than the old way of using the ramp so she was ready for sure

I think your bunny is still a baby right? Maybe something like this will help you with your fear. I suppose bunnies are jumpers but i felt better at night when i put her away in her condo that she was safe by doing it in baby steps.
