I put this in “Diet” since the “Health” part seems to be improving.  We woke up to a listless bun who had only eaten half his lettuce overnight and none of his bell pepper (and he loves bell pepper).  Didn’t want a papaya tablet (and he really, really loooooves those) and even refused a small slice of apple.  Oh-oh.  Luckily, we still had some metocapromol (sp?) left from the last go ’round and some doses of pain reliever.  He got a dose of both.  By this after noon, he’d eaten some of his bell pepper, so I took a chance and ran up to the store to get some fresh parsley, more lettuce and a can of pumpkin.  Ever’bunny loves pumpkin, I’ve always heard.  Great if a bun’s guts aren’t moving quite right because it’s full of fiber and moisture.  Shoot, even Cinnamon on Disapproving Rabbits has a video where she’s lapping it up like it’s going out of style.

He wouldn’t touch it!  I swear he wrinkled his little bunny nose up and went, “Feh!  Woman, why are you trying to feed me this disgusting squash?”  Didn’t want it off my finger, a spoon, a dish; not no way, not no how.  He’s doing much better.  He’s hit the litter box and left pellets and ate some parsley and some hay.  He’s currently sitting on the roof of his Cottontail Cottage, so I think he’s on the mend.  But the big question is, does anybody else’s bun loath pumpkin like Bean?

YEah not all buns like pumpkin

As long as he’s eating and pooping those are the main things-I may have missed previous threads by you-but if he’s in stasis (not eating not pooping) then it’s vet time. And if it happens again-vet time. Dogs and cats you can often wait and see-rabbits have less then 24 hours from sickness to fatality so it’s ALWAYS wise to see a vet asap

I honestly have not tried strait pumpkin just baby food with pumpkin in it. I tried soem fresh pumpkin-=they liked it. THough zuccini did not fly -they can eat any kind of squash

I had a rabbit get very, very sick and had to keep it alive long enough to take it to the vets the next day (no emergency vets that treat rabbits within 2 hours). I got some pedialyte and pumpkin and tried to feed her, and she wouldnt have it! I had to throw away an entire can of pumpkin.. luckily she took the water and ate a little hay so I was able to get her to the vet the next morning.

It’s supposed to be very good for a rabbit in stasis, but I couldnt figure out how to get her to eat it :/

Yeah, my rabbits won’t eat it on it’s own – I tasted it and I wouldn’t eat it either. It truly has no flavor on it’s own. I usually mix it with Critical Care when I have to hand feed otherwise, if I just sit in front of their face, they refuse it – I don’t blame them.

LOL Sarita. I’m picturing you trying the Critical Care next!
