So we are approaching that season of pumpkins and I like to carve one for Halloween. I am just wondering if Dorian chews on it if I need to be concerned? I totally get it is high in sugar and should be avoided in large quantities, I am more wondering if he hops up and gives a carved pumpkin a chew if I need to worry about it him ingesting a small amount? From the bit I have seen it’s the sugar content that’s the main issue, so I was thinking it be cute to take a photo of him with the pumpkin, but won’t if there is any chance of it being toxic to him.

Well, canned pumpkin is safe to give in small amounts, so I think it would be OK in small amounts as well? There could possibly be a coating on the outside to prevent molding, but that’s the only toxic thing I can think of. Washing it well before carving it would probably do the trick.

Thanks DanaNM, definitely will wash before. He may not even end up chewing it, but I always like to assume he will 😀

              Always a safe assumption!
