Mr Peepers has decided his favorite room in our house is the room that my hubby’s piano is in. I don’t want to keep him out because he seems to get a kick out of running in circles around it ( I think it’s because it’s the only room where all the corners are empty leaving him a lap track and he moves all of his belongings to the middle of his condo so he can run laps) but if he even nips the tiniest bit of the legs, were both going to be in trouble lol. He tends to be a chewer, so even though he hasn’t done it yet, I want to find a way to protect the legs. It has to look nice – the piano is in our open dining room so it’s kind of on display – and not ruin the finish. Any ideas? Mr Peepers also has a taste for things he shouldn’t like tape and soft plastics so those are out – I’ve seen rubber leg covers for dogs but that won’t do for him.

Can the coverings be temporary? Thing that you put on when bunny is exercising, but take off when you have company. Then appearance wouldn’t be as much of an issue.

I was thinking you could just put cardboard tubes around the legs. have them split open along the length so that you can put them on and take them off easily. Use a band/belt of some kind to keep them closed, maybe velcro.

Can you get 12 NIC grids and ziptie 4 sets into a row. When it’s exercise time time, you can place them around each leg in a triangle shape and secure the open end with a dogclip. As long as it’s centered around the leg, he shouldn’t be able to reach it at all.

I’ve seen People slip PVC piping around their furniture legs and you could always sltheir back off for company. They’re a bit more pricey than the cardboard idea but they will last forever.

I don’t know much about pianos but…this works for me with the baseboards in my apartment. I spray a body spray on to a kleenex and wipe down the places I don’t want them chewing (ie. base boards, table legs, piano legs) and this seems to curb it. I don’t know if it’s the scent or the bitter taste it must leave, but it works!

Tricky dilemma. I do think some of the less cosmetic but removable ideas might be your best bet. So you can take them off when Mr Peepers is not in the room.

Thing with some bunny proofing efforts is that they can make it more attractive for the bunny! I was thinking something like those matchstick placemats or blinds you can get. Something in the same colour as the pianos wood, then fixing them around each leg. But I do wonder if that a rabbit would want to nibble on that? I suppose you could line them with a fabric that would sit against the piano legs and rub some chew deterrent onto the matchstick wood.

Or could you make something out of sheets of wood veneer for each leg? Some sort of wrap around cover?
