So my Penelope is a VERY picky eater. She has never liked pellets and she won’t almost any of the veggies I’ve had her try. I’ve found a group of veggies that she’s taken a liking to and she gets those everyday. I’ve also kept just a few pellets in her cage, changing them every couple days or so, just in case she ever changed her mind about eating them. Well, low and behold, after almost three years, I noticed that the pellets in the cage were gone. I thought maybe the cats had gotten in there and eaten them. So I put more in and she came running and gobbled them up! I haven’t changed anything in her diet and she is still acting normal. There is no difference in poop and still drinks the same amount of water.
Basically what I’m asking is, do I need to be concerned? Is the reason she started eating her pellets because her body is telling her she needs more of something? Probably over-reacting, it’s just she’s never eaten them in the past. I’ve pondered about taking them out completely, but I’ve always thought…no, no, just in case lol
