I know it’s recommended for buns to be on a probiotic while on an antibiotic, and I’d really like to do that for Bombur so his gut stays in decent health. I don’t need anymore scares from him. Does anyone have any recommendations for a good bunny safe probiotic and how to administer it?

You can find Bene-bac for bunnies on amazon.
This is what I use, it is a safe gut bacteria, and apparently very tasty. My buns love it!
It comes in a small tube, I just squeeze some out onto my finger and let them lick it up.
It also is on Chewy.com in a syringe, which you can administer through orally.
          Good luck!

Wick’s vet gives us powder in a pill container that we refrigerate. About one to two hours after an antibiotic administration, I sprinkle some powder on wet romaine and feed it to Wick. Unfortunately I don’t know what brand the probiotic is, but adding this is a good idea to keep the gut healthy!

Benebac contains enterococcus faecium, the most prevalent bacterium in the healthy bunny gut. So that’s good. I use a British brand with that type of bacteria for Bam when he gets sticky poop.

My vet always recommends Benebac for buns on antibiotics. I get the powder. Since Bindi is old and has so many issues, he gets Benebac once weekly.

I do recall BB member Vanessa saying she found Benebac always helped with Lancelot’s poos. She was treating him for EC for a long time.

Protexin is another that could be suitable. http://www.thehayexperts.co.uk/protexin-professional-5g-sachet.html

Some rabbit foods are also good prebiotics so it wouldn’t hurt to make sure he gets those also. Dandelion greens is a good one, apples, banana, chicory root (often sold as chews for rabbits). Apple cider vinegar also.

Awesome! Thanks guys! I ordered a few tubes of Benebac. I figure with Bombur, you can never be too careful. I heard about apple cider vinegar too, and I might start putting a little in his water dish.
