So, background-our family dog had to have radiation therapy for a non-operable tumour about two years ago. They do the radiation for one month at a time, and the animal has a treatment every single day. The only place in Canada that does it and one of the only one’s in the world is at the Saskatoon vet college. So my dog went to live there for a month and it was an incredible program, they phone you long distance every single day after their treatment to let you know how they are doing, and they send pictures as well; The animal lives with rotating vet students during it’s stay. (My dog loves teens/young adults so she LOVED sleepovers with the students!
)
So needless to say after she did so well in the program and was a favorite with the staff, my parent’s take my dog back to the hospital to visit staff when they are travelling out that way. They were there about two weeks ago.
The current animal having radiation (only one animal at a time gets it) –A RABBIT!!
Why is this so incredible? Well, firstly they have to be put under every day, and secondly to give you an idea of cost, a month on a dog or cat is around fifteen thousand dollars…rabbits cost more as we all know! Even the vets in the hospital thought that it was an incredible amount of money and dedication that the owner was putting into this bunny!!
I know we all *would* pay whatever to save our bunnies-but wow-someone is as we speak!!
