Today we moved my two rabbits’ (Nymeria, 5 and Oberyn, 1.5) cages together from a 6” distance. They touched noses for a while and seemed to be getting on until Nymeria began nipping at Oberyn through the bars. We don’t want to move them back apart but we’re worried about going to sleep and one of them biting the other too hard. Does anyone have any suggestions? I know it’s probably too soon to tell if the match is doomed…but we are definitely feeling anxious.

They should always be kept with the space between them. Any reason why you moved them closer?

It’s normal for them to try to nip when they aren’t bonded.

Why did you do this? Unbonded bunnies shouldn’t be able to touch one another, unless in a bonding session.
