Hey guys! I posted in a previous forum that one of my bunny’s, Lady was diagnosed by our vet with the early signs of stasis on Thursday. Well it’s now Sunday and she is eating so much better! She is really going to town on her veggies, eating some hay, drinking a little water. No pellets yet, but since she started eating on Friday night, we’ve been tapering off her Critical Care. Now instead of 1 tbsp every 4 hours, we’re doing 1/2 tsp every 4 hours, I am still syringe feeding her pedialite, since she isn’t really drinking a lot yet. These past few days her diet has mainly consisted of Critical Care and veggies. I’ve been giving her a lot of veggies because it was the first thing she started eating and honestly I wanted to encourage any eating she might do on her own. Now that she is interested in hay, I am going to cut the veggies back down to a normal level with her. She’s had small, irregular poops, which I’ve read are quite normal for a bunny coming out of stasis. She’s also had quite a few caecotrophs, which, according to our (rabbit savvy) vet, is normal and a good sign, that things are coming out of her system. But she had a very stinky poop earlier today that looked kinda odd. Again, I know post stasis poops are odd, but I just wanna make sure this isn’t too big a cause for concern, so I attached a pic of her poop. I felt mildly ridiculous taking a pic and putting it in a container, but just in case she does need to go back to the vet, I wanted to have a sample and well…after the first bout of stasis I’ve ever encounter owning a bunny, I’m a lotta bit paranoid. Thanks in advance for any help

They look like *normal* hair ingested poops. So it’s normal looking for the fur she’s ingested. Was she prechance molting before coming down with stasis? Because it looks like it might’ve been caused by ingesting too much fur and her body was figuring how to poop it out.

Yep that’s what the vet thinks caused it. She hates being groomed so it’s always a struggle, she was going through a shed though. I took the opportunity in these past few days where she hasn’t been as energetic to brush her good and pull away a lot of loose hair

My boys are very fussy about being brushed too, I’d suggest giving a lint roller a try If I give them a treat I can usually get about 10 sheets done and then I just pluck whatever looks obvious.

Awesome thank you! It’s good to hear this looks normal all things considered. I starting seeing things like “megacolon” when I googled and started to freak. I’ll definitely have to try the treat + lint roller combo!

Yep looks like a normal “fur poop”.

I always groom Kurotta when he’s eating or lounging – those are the best times instead of intentionally setting an official “grooming” session.

For belly fur I usually get Kurotta to stand with his front paws on my legs while I sneakily run a comb through his belly
